Sioux City, Iowa - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) wrestling championship tournament began with a moment of silence to honor former York (Neb.) wrestler Brock Pigorsch, whose life was tragically cut short in an auto accident last January. It was said that Pigorsh often encouraged teammates to "T.C.O.Y.B" or "take care of your business." The 28 teams consisting of 269 grapplers participating at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa are poised to do just that and rise to the occasion for the 51st annual event.
Defending champion Lindenwood (Mo.) racked up 37 points to lead the pack after the first day of action. McKendree (Ill.) sits at No. 2 followed by Oklahoma City, Missouri Valley and Embry Riddle (Ariz.) rounding out the top 5. Lindenwood and McKendree both lead all participants with eight wrestlers remaining in the championship bracket. Due to the late finishes of the first session, the starting time for Friday's matches have been pushed back an hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST.
