SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The second session of the 51st annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) wrestling championship tournament concluded Friday afternoon with Lindenwood (Mo.) sitting on top of the team standings and distanced themselves from the rest of the 29 teams competing in the event.
The 2007 champion Lions have a total of 74 points and lead 2nd place McKendree (Ill.) who ended the session with 64.5 points. Dana (Neb.), Dickenson State (N.D.) and Great Falls (Mont.) are each separated by less than five points and round out the top five. Lindenwood, McKendree, Dana and Menlo (Calif.) each have four grapplers remaining in the championship bracket. Dickenson State, Great Falls and Montana State Northern have three wrestlers competing for titles in their class.
Campbelsville (Ky.) junior Zach Flake (141 lb.), Morningside (Iowa) senior Jake Stevenson (184 lb.) and Dickenson State senior Justin Schlecht (197 lb.) remain in the championship bracket with hopes of defending their2007 individual titles.
