· Men's Cross Country Weekly Report # 2 ·

Embry-Riddle (Fla.) won the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee on Saturday, Sept. 27.  The Eagles beat out five NCAA Division I and two NCAA Division II teams in that race.  That strong performance jumped Embry-Riddle into the No. 2 ranking in this week's NAIA Men's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll.  The Eagles received a first-place vote in that poll

 

· Men's Cross Country News and Notes ·

·          Embry-Riddle's Sam Vazquez was the top individual finisher at the Florida State Invitational, running the course in 25:32.47.  That was his third consecutive first place finish

·          There were three new teams in the Top 25 this week.  Indiana Wesleyan comes in at No. 18 after a ninth-place finish at the Roy Griac Invitational held in Falcons Height, Minn.  Fresno Pacific (Calif.) checks in at No. 19 and Southern Nazarene (Okla.) comes in at No. 22.

·          Malone (Ohio) continued their dominance last week.  The nation's No. 1 team won the Loyola Invitational in Chicago.  Senior Nik Schweikert won the individual title with a time of 24:49.

 

· Women's Cross Country Weekly Report # 2 ·

Indiana Tech had a great week, moving from No. 16 all the way up to No. 9 in the country.  The Lady Warriors won the Lansing College Invitational while placing seven runners in the top 17.  All seven posted season-best times and four set new career bests.  Indiana Tech will be back in action on Oct. 11 at the Wisconsin Parkside Invite

 

· Women's Cross Country News and Notes ·

·          Xavier (La.) junior Ebony Harding set the school record for 5,000 meters with a time of 20:16.00.  She had previously held the record with a time of 20:18.81.  Harding has been Xavier's highest finisher in each of her 16 career meets.

·          Cedarville (Ohio) continues to impress.  The Lady Jackets remain No. 1 in the country after winning the Second Annual Cedarville Open.  Their runners swept the top five spots with junior Lydia Wong finishing in first.  Overall, they had seven runners in the top ten.

·          There were two new teams in this week's NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll.  Hastings (Neb.) came in at No. 22 after winning the Dean White Invite in Crete, Neb.  Spring Arbor (Mich.) checked in at No. 24.  The Cougars finished eighth at the Mel Brodt Invitational at Bowling Green State University on Sept. 13.
