KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Malone College (Ohio) remained No. 1 in the final National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Cross Country Ratings. The Pioneers earned all seven first place votes and compiled 210 total points to stay in the top spot the entire season. Malone won the Region IX Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Aquinas (Mich.) earned No. 2 in the preseason rating and held onto the second spot every week. The Saints earned 203 total points and received all seven second place votes. Cornerstone (Mich.) moved up a spot from last week to No. 3 after finishing second at the Regional VIII race behind Aquinas. California State-San Marcos captured the Region II Championship and jumped three spots in the ratings to No. 4 with 184 total points. Black Hills State (S.D.) and Lindenwood (Mo.) tied at No. 5 with 177 total points each. Both won their regional races.
Simon Fraser (B.C.) took a huge leap to No. 8 from No. 24 and Huntington (Ind.) climbed seven spots to No. 13 from No. 20.
The 2007 NAIA National Championship teams and individual qualifiers will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 6 by 5 p.m. (CST). The championship race (8K) will be held at Dr. Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. (CST).
