OLATHE, Kan. - Madonna (Mich.) forward Martina Franklin has been named NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averages of 25.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. In helping Madonna to a 2-0 mark last week, she also averaged 3.5 steals.
Franklin opened the week with 21 points in a win over Michigan-Dearborn and followed with 29 against Cornerstone, a game in which she also had four steals and finished 12-of-17 from the floor. On the glass, Franklin pulled down 15 boards against Michigan-Dearborn and another 10 against Cornerstone.
Over two games, Franklin finished 22-of-34 from the floor and 6-of-16 from the foul line, grabbing seven steals, two assists and recording one block. Her 29-point outing in the week's second game also marked a career-high.
