DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn has hired Mary Pinkowski as the head coach of the women's basketball team. Pinkowski led Webber International University (Fla.) to a Florida Sun Conference Championship in 2005-06 with a perfect 10-0 conference record. She also was named the conference's coach of the year in 2005-06. In two seasons as the head coach of the Warriors she led them to a 35-22 record including a spot in the NAIA National Tournament this past season.
Prior to being the head coach at Webber, Pinkowski was the assistant coach for two seasons. Pinkowski also had a successful career as a player at Flagler College (Fla.) and was named to the Florida Sun Conference First Team in 2001-02.
Pinkowski will look to turn around a Wolves squad that went 3-25 last season and was 2-12 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. She will have the benefit of returning All-Conference player Kandice Perryman, who was named to the third team.
