KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colleen Planeta of Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) has been selected as the NAIA Women’s Basketball Division I Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.
Planeta, a junior forward from Surprise, Ariz., averaged 22.7 points, 12.3 rebounds and 7.3 blocks in three wins for the Sea Lions. She shot 56 percent from the floor and recorded three double-doubles. Planeta posted 32 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks against Denison (Ohio), 19 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks against Staten Island (N.Y.) and 17 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks against Hope International (Calif.). She helped the team capture the 2008 Surf N Slam Tournament and was named Tournament MVP.
