OLATHE, Kan. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released its 32 qualifying teams for the 27th Annual Division I Women's Basketball National Championship, which will be held March 14-20 at Jackson, Tenn.'s Oman Arena.

 

The championship field comes from 17 automatic qualifiers from post-season qualification tournaments and the remainder of the tournament is comprised of 15 at-large bids, which are selected based on the season's final rating, released last Wednesday, Feb. 28.

 

No. 4 Oklahoma City University faces No. 5 Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) to tip-off the tournament Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. Highlighting day one of the tournament will be No. 1 Vanguard University (Calif.), who plays No. 8 Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) at 12 noon Wednesday.

 

The state of Tennessee will be well represented at the tournament, with six teams from throughout the volunteer state playing for a national title. Teams include No. 5 Freed-Hardeman University, No. 2 Trevecca Nazarene University, No. 3 Cumberland University (Tenn.), No. 1 Lee University (Tenn.), No. 1 Union University (Tenn.), and No. 5 Lambuth University (Tenn.).

 

The first 30 games of the tournament will be video streamed live on the Internet, while the National Championship Game will air live nationwide on College Sports Television (CSTV), with Ann Schatz calling the action and Patti Phillips providing in-depth analysis.
