JACKSON, Tenn. - Fifth-seeded Mobile University (Ala.) overcame a first half deficit to defeat fourth-seeded Georgetown College 79-64 to advance to the second round of the 26th annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship at Oman Arena.
With the exception of a two-point lead (15-13) with 10 minutes to play in the first half, Mobile trailed Georgetown for the first 23 minutes of play until a 3-point basket by Emma Ledwaba put them up 41-38. From there, the lead swapped sides eight times until Mobile took a 61-58 lead with 4:44 to play that sparked an 18-6 drive to the buzzer.
Georgetown's final shot of the game came with 1:02 to play by senior Katie Columbus, which put her at 1,000 points on her career.
Mobile remains undefeated against Georgetown after the win, the teams' third-ever meeting.
Margo Rose and Emma Ledwaba each scored 15 points to lead Mobile, while Kinga Rybarczyk had 10. Crystal Coston posted a game-high 10 rebounds.
Georgetown was led by Megan Gray's 14 points, while Carrie Meek added 12 and Kim Ingle had 11.
Mobile improves to 23-5 on the season and advances to the second round on Friday at 6:15 p.m. to face top-seeded Freed-Hardeman University (31-2).
