KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Union University (Tenn.) women's basketball team is the favorite in the 2007-08 NAIA Preseason Division I Women's Basketball Top 25 poll. The Lady Bulldogs received nine first place votes and 328 total points.
Union returns four of the top five leading scores from last year's team that advanced to the National Championship Tournament Final Four. The Bulldogs posted a 30-6 record last season.
Vanguard (Calif.) received the other two first place votes and compiled 321 total points for the second spot on the poll. No. 3 Lee (Tenn.), No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and No. 5 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) rounded out the top five with 293, 287 and 281 total points respectively.
The 2007-08 National Champion, Lambuth (Tenn.), starts the season at No. 11 in the preseason poll.
The first regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, December 5.
