KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 2008 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Golf National Championships will be held May 20-23 at Lake San Marcos Country Club in San Diego, California.
California State University-San Marcos will serve as the host institution during the event. Lake San Marcos Country Club's par 72, 6000 yard layout offers a strategic test for golfers of all abilities. The course has a perfect mixture of flat and hilly terrain and contains tree-lined Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens.
In 2007 Oklahoma City University claimed its third straight national title, finishing 18 strokes ahead of second place Lindsey Wilson (Ky.). Freshman Krista Burton of Lindsey Wilson won the individual title with a four-round total of 295 (74-74-73-74). She finished just two strokes shy of tying the NAIA Tournament scoring record.
This year's championship will feature 23 teams, include 13 region champions and 10 at-large bids, and five individual qualifiers.
