SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Top-ranked and defending champion Oklahoma City University continued their run for a repeat title as they shot a 306 team score at the 2006 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships at Blackthorn Golf Club for a two-day total of 594. The Stars' freshman Ashley Sholer shot a two-under par 70 to maintain her lead in the chase for individual medalist honors.

Oklahoma City continues their record-breaking performance in this tournament as they added the 36 hole record with their play on Wednesday. The morning rounds were finished under increasingly cloudy skies while Oklahoma City and afternoon competitors saw their rounds suspended for 42. University of British Columbia also shot a 306 in the afternoon slot to move into second place, 30 strokes off the pace. California State University-San Marcos is in third place with a 640 total.

Sholer continued to blister the field and her 138 total gives her the individual 36-hole tournament record. Some of her magic may have rubbed off as playing partner Valeria Cogollo of Waldorf College (Iowa) aced the 159 yard 13th hole. Oklahoma City's Toni Pyrum is in second place at 152, while there is a six-player log jam for third place at 153.

Third round tee times begin at 8 a.m.on Thursday as 120 golfers compete for the individual title and 23 teams vie for the team crown. The 72-hole event hosted by Bethel College (Ind.) continues through Friday, May 26.
