Martin Methodist Kicks Off Day Two With 4-0 Win

OLATHE, Kan. - Third-seeded Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) started day two of the 2006 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship with a 4-0 win over No. 14 seed McKendree College (Ill.) Thursday morning at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe, Kan.

Kelly Lewicki scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Victoria Charnley to a 1-0 lead and Charny would find the net herself off the corner at the 36-minute mark to take the advantage 2-0. Maria Sonnerborg and Julia Bazi would both find the back of the net in the second half to lead the RedHawks to victory.

McKendree, the Region V Champion, ends its season with a record of 17-4-1.

Martin Methodist (18-3-0) enters Saturday's 10 a.m. quarterfinal game where they will face the winner of No. 6 Lee University (Tenn.) and No. 11 Carroll College (Mont.)
