OLATHE, Kan. - First-seeded Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) used a 21-3 shot advantage against 16th seeded Tiffin University (Ohio) in Thursday's 3-0 second-round win at the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship in Olathe, Kan.
Sarah Yoro put the Cougars on the board in the 14th minute on an unassisted goal from the top of the box to give Azusa Pacific a 1-0 lead. They wouldn't find the back of the net again until the second-half when Jolie Nitta would beat the keeper on the upper left corner off an assist from Theresa Broad. Broad would then beat two defenders to score unassisted in the 58th minute to increase Azusa Pacific's lead to 3-0, where it would remain until the final buzzer.
Tiffin, the Region IX champion, ends its season with a record of 17-4-2.
Azusa Pacific will take their 19-1-0 record into Saturday's 12:30 p.m. quarterfinal matchup against the winner of Westmont College (Calif.) and Covenant College (Ga.).
