KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) received all 14 first-place votes and has recaptured the No. 1 ranking in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon. The Blue Raiders held the top spot in the NAIA preseason ranking before having it taken by Azusa Pacific (Calif.) in the first week. The two teams exchange No. 1 and No. 2 positions following the result of the Blue Raiders 1-0 win over Azusa at last weeks KELME Classic.
Lee (Tenn.), Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) and St. Xavier (Ill.) round out the top five and remain at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 positions each held last week.
Five teams make appearances in the Top 25 after missing out last week, Vanguard (Calif.) at No. 16, King (Tenn.) No. 19, undefeated Benedictine (Kan.) at No. 22 and Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) which was part of a three-way tie with previously unranked Trinity Christian (Ill.) at No. 23.
The next Top 25 poll will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
