NAIA Women's Soccer Weekly Honors Announced for Sept. 26



Lee (Tenn.) junior forward Tiffany Cox

Tiffany Cox of Lee (Tenn.) has been selected as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 23.

 

Cox, a junior forward from Pearland, TX netted both game winning shots on the week against ranked opponents. She posted a pair of goals against No. 23 Covenant College (Ga.) in the Lady Flames 4-0 victory. Cox followed that performance by notching two more goals and lead Lee to a 2-0 win over previously No. 1 ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), which was Lee's first ever win against the Blue Raiders. Cox now has 8 goals on the year and a total of 22 points.

 

This is the third week in a row that a member of the Lady Flames has held the Offensive Player of the week honor. Cox's teammate Janaina Novaes held the distinction the last two weeks.

Amy Rhoades of Albertson (ID) has been named the NAIA Women's National Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 23.

 

Rhoades, a sophomore goalkeeper from Eagle, ID had fourteen saves in two games last week.  Against Southern Oregon, Rhoades had eight saves in a 1-0 win.  She followed that up with a six-save performance, leading Albertson to a 2-0 win over Oregon Tech.  This marks the first time that the Albertson Coyotes women's soccer team has won on the road against Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. Rhoades ranks second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 0.45 goals against average and has three saves.
