KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the second straight week Lee (Tenn.) has been named No. 1 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Top 25 poll, announced this afternoon. The Lady flames received four first-place votes and a total of 342 points earning them the top spot. Lee grabs the honor after blasting Shorter College (Ga.) and Brewton - Parker College (Ga.) last week, winning both games by a score of 8-0. The margin between the No. 1 and No. 2 spot remains tight as only 4 points separate the teams. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) received five first-place votes and a total of 338 points to come in at No 2. for the second consecutive week. Behind Azusa, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) was given 1 first-place vote and a total of 327 points earning them the No. 3 position.
Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) moved up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4 while Concordia (Ore.) moves from No. 6 to fifth for their first appearance in the top five this year. Concordia (Calif.) made the biggest leap of the week moving from last week's No. 18 ranking to the No. 11 position. The Eagles rebounded from back to back losses two weeks ago and currently have a three-game winning streak.
The fifth regular season Top 25 poll (sixth overall) will be released on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
