PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - Jessica Eenigenburg achieved a scoring milestone on October 15 when she scored her 100th career goal in a 5-0 victory over the University of St. Francis (Ill). The senior forward entered the contest needing just one goal to reach that century mark. She got that opportunity 19 minutes into the game when she connected on a cross and sent the ball sailing into the net. Eenigenburg ended the game with one goal and one assist.
"It has been an awesome year," comments Eenigenburg. "Scoring my 100th goal was exciting and I contribute that success to my teammates. I am having fun and am enjoying playing on a team in which everyone contributes."
Eenigenburg has been a scoring phenomenon since she was a freshman. To date she has 100 goals, 37 assists, and 237 points in her career. She holds records for the college's ten-year old program in goals, assists, points, and shots for a single game, a season, and a career. She also ranks 8th in the NAIA individual career records in goals and in points.
"I am pleased with the accomplishment of the team this year, and Jess has been a big part of it," said Josh Lenarz, women's soccer coach. "Jess has a very special gift. Her ability to score goals makes our team dangerous every time we step on the field. More importantly, Jess will leave behind a legacy in our program that extends far deeper than the amount of goals she has scored. She has provided so much leadership within every facet of our team and greatest of all she loves the Lord with all her heart."
The Trolls have had success this season, breaking the school record for most wins in a season. They have also recorded seven shutouts in their last nine games. As a team they have scored 77 goals for the season and given up only 17. Eenigenburg has scored 27 of those goals and has recorded a hat trick in seven games.
Earlier this season, Eenigenburg became the leading scorer in the College's soccer programs. On September 16 she tallied her 88th career goal and surpassed the record of 86 goals set by men's soccer player Scott Stan (1985-88), who was Eenigenburg's high school coach.
