NAIA Women's Soccer Weekly Honors Announced for Oct. 24

Lena Candia of Texas at Brownsville was named the NAIA Women's National Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 21.

Candia, a junior from Malmo, Sweden had an outstanding week, netting seven goals and adding three assists in two games.  Candia had four goals and an assist in an 8-0 win over Texas College.  She then followed that with a three goal, two assist performance against Southwestern Assemblies of God (Tex.).  The seven goals bring her season total up to twenty two, by far the most on the team.  Candia led the Scorpions to a 10-6 record in the school's first season fielding a soccer team.

Natalie Wall of John Brown (Ark.) was named the NAIA Women's National Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 21.

Wall, a senior from Edmond, Okla., turned away 11 shots in a 1-0 road win at Oklahoma City to give JBU the Sooner Athletic conference title. She also had a shutout against University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma last week giving her 6 shutout wins in her conference play this season.
