Lee (Tenn.) No. 1 In The Final Regular Season NAIA Women's Soccer Poll - Rating # 9



Lee (Tenn.) is ranked No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The No. 1 ranking in the final National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Top 25 poll of the 2007 season, announced this afternoon, belongs to Lee (Tenn.).

 

The Lady Flames edged out Azusa Pacific (Calif.) for the top spot marking the sixth consecutive week the team has held the ranking. The Lady Flames received seven first-place votes and a total of 294 points. Lee went 2-0 last week and captured the SSAC Tournament Championship for the sixth year in a row.

Azusa Pacific (Calif.) stands at No. 2, two points behind Lee. Azusa received four first-place votes and a total of 292 points. The Cougars wrapped up the regular-season with its fifth straight shutout after a 3-0 victory over Vanguard last Saturday evening.

Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) received one first-place vote and a total of 277 points to earn the No. 3 position. The Blue Raiders defeated Cumberlands (Ky.) 5-0 last week winning the Mid South Conference Tournament Championship. Fourth place Concordia (Ore.) had its scoreless streak snapped in the opening round of the Cascade Conference Tournament last week. The team was able to shake off the disappointment and charge forward to its eight tournament title. Martin Methodist (Tenn.) round's out the top five after its fourth TranSouth Conference Tournament title in a row. 

 

The 20 teams to compete in the NAIA National Championship Tournament will be set on Nov. 8.
