KANSAS CITY, Mo. –No. 1 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) remains the best team in women’s soccer, according to the 2008 NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced today (Nov. 11). In the 10th edition of the poll, the Blue Raiders totaled 578 points and 13 of the possible 21 first-place votes. LWC is No. 1 for the sixth straight week and enters the Mid-South Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed and plays Wednesday (Nov. 12) in the Semifinals. The Blue Raiders boast an 11-game winning streak and have out-scored the opposition by a 72-3 margin, which includes eight shut outs during the streak.
Another team on a tear as the regular season comes to a close is No. 2 Lee (Tenn.). The Flames own a 12 game winning streak and stands 18-1 on the year with the lone loss coming at Lindsey Wilson. Lee claims 573 points this week and five first-place nods. Defending national champion Martin Methodist (Tenn.) holds at No. 3. The RedHawks enter the TranSouth Athletic Conference Semifinals as the No. 1 seed and a 16-1 record. They have not allowed a single goal in eight straight contests dating back to Oct. 4.
No. 4 Concordia (Ore.) held its position from last week and notched the remaining three first-place votes. One of three undefeated teams in the NAIA, Concordia will play for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship tomorrow (Nov. 12). At 16-2 on the year, Azusa Pacific (Calif.) is No. 5 this week for the second straight time.
There are still three undefeated programs (as of Nov. 9) in the NAIA soccer world – Concordia (Ore.), No. 6 Graceland (Iowa) and No. 22 Marian (Ind.).

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The 11th and final regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16 by 1 p.m. CST. The official field and pairings for the 2008 Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round will be announced by 7 p.m. CST on Nov. 16.
