OLATHE, Kan. - Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) advanced to the semifinals of the 2006 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Saturday night with a 2-0 victory against Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe, Kansas.
In the 21st minute, Lindsey Wilson's Sashsheena Stewart passed a ball in from the right flank to Kristine Pedersen for her 23rd goal of the season, giving the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Pedersen assisted Yolanda Hamilton on a give and go for her fourth goal on the season.
With the shutout, Lindsey Wilson has now held its opponents scoreless in 12 consecutive games.
For the match, the Blue Raiders out-shot Point Loma Nazarene, 18-8, including a 14-4 edge in the second half.
Point Loma Nazarene, an at-large qualifier, ends its season with a record of 14-6-0, while Lindsey Wilson improves to 21-2-0.
No. 2 Lindsey Wilson moves on to Monday's semifinals where it will meet defending champion and No. 3 seed Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) at 6 p.m. This is Lindsey Wilson's fourth trip to the semifinals.
