OLATHE, Kan. - Although it was a five seed defeating a four seed, Concordia University (Ore.) recorded the first upset of the 2006 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship with a 1-0 victory over Houghton College (N.Y.) in the quarterfinals Saturday night at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe, Kan.

During the previous 15 games of the tournament, the higher seed prevailed until Concordia punched its ticket to the semifinals for the second time in three seasons, setting up a match-up with top-seeded Azusa Pacific University on Monday beginning at 3 p.m.

Against Houghton, Concordia scored the lone goal of the game in the 29^th minute as Justine Pronovost scored an unassisted goal when she slotted the ball between the keeper and the left post for her 17^th goal of the season.

For the match, the two teams each had 13 shots, while Houghton held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 5-1.

Concordia goalkeeper Lela Mansfield grabbed four saves in the victory, registering her eighth shutout of the season.

Houghton ends its 2006 season with an 18-2-2 record, while Concordia improves to 20-1-2.
