Concordia advances to the Semifinals with a 2-1 overtime win over Azusa Pacific

Concordia advances to the Semifinals with a 2-1 overtime win over Azusa Pacific

Dec. 3, 2008

Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Quarterfinal Round began with fourth-seeded Azusa Pacific (Calif.) taking on undefeated Concordia (Ore.) in an 11 a.m. kick off.

Senior midfielder Justine Pronovost got Concordia on the board first with a goal in the 38th minute.  The Cavaliers would take that 1-0 lead into halftime.

It was an exciting second half as both teams had multiple shots that either hit the cross bar or that were just wide of the net.  Azusa Pacific senior forward Bridget Brotherton tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 86th minute.  Neither team would score again in regulation, sending the game to overtime.

The Cavaliers won in the extra period as Justine Pronovost netted her second goal of the game in the 91st minute.

Concordia improves to 22-0-1 on the year while Azusa Pacific ends their season at 19-3.

The Cavaliers advance to the Semifinals and will play the winner of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Graceland (Iowa) at 5 p.m. (EST) on Friday Dec. 5.
