Trinity Christian advances to the Semifinals with a 2-1 win over William Carey

Dec. 3, 2008

Daytona Beach, Fla. – The fourth Quarterfinal match featured No. 10 seed Trinity Christian (Ill.) going up against fifteenth-seeded William Carey (Miss.) to decide who would fill the final Semifinal spot.

Trinity Christian got on the scoreboard early when Mindi Prins scored to give the Trolls a 1-0 lead.  They were able to stretch the lead to 2-0 when Errika Comerouski scored on a corner kick from Meagan Scartozzi in the 37th minute.  That would be the halftime score.

William Carey cut the lead in half on a goal from Natalia Nino in the 51st minute.  Although neither team would score again, it was a thrilling second half that kept many of the fans on their feet the whole time.  In the end, Trinity Christian held on to win 2-1.

Trinity Christian improves to 23-1 on the year while William Carey ends their season at 16-4-1.

The Trolls advance to the Semifinals and will play Lee (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. (EST) on Friday, Dec. 5.
