NAIA REGION V

WOMEN’S SOCCER

ACADEMIC YEAR:                         Fall 2006

 

CHAMPIONSHIP DATE(s):                        November 4 (Saturday), 6 (Monday), 8 (Wednesday)

                                                                        Regional deadline - November 8, 2006

 

CHAMPIONSHIP SITE(s):                          highest remaining seeded team

 

TIME(s):                                                        1:00 PM unless mutually agreed upon by both coaches and

            both Athletic Directors

 

OFFICIALS:                                                  The NAIA Regional Administrator Liaison in cooperation with the Region V Sport Chair will make recommendations to the Region V Supervision of Officials.

 

AWARDS:                                                     Region V Championship Team Award

                                                                        COACH-of-the-YEAR

                                                                        PLAYER-of-the-YEAR

                                                                        14 - 1st Team All-Region awards

                                                                        Selections supervised by All-Region Committee

 

REGIONAL PLAYOFF FORMAT:             6-team, single elimination tournament

                                                                                                If the regional tournament cannot be played to completion, the highest remaining seed will advance to the NAIA National Soccer Tournament

 

PLAYOFF RATING/RANKING PROCEDURE:  longo rating system scored according to the

  NAIA Soccer Manual

 

CRITERIA FOR TEAM SELECTION

AMC regular season champion

HAAC regular season champion

2 At-large teams with the next highest longo

AMC post-season tournament qualifier

HAAC regular season runner-up OR next highest team in the final conference standings that is not already qualified

 

PAIRINGS AND SEEDING

HAAC & AMC regular season Champions seeded 1st & 2nd

2 at-large teams seeded 3rd & 4th

AMC qualifier and HAAC qualifier seeded 5th & 6th (Dates for tournament – (10/31 & 11/2)

* The aforementioned teams will be seeded according to the following criteria:

(1)   head to head competition

(2)     longo ratings (The longo rating ladder will include ALL Region V teams for seeding purposes)

FIRST ROUND         4th hosts 5th and 3rd hosts 6th

SECOND ROUND    1st will host winner of 4th/5th and 2nd will host winner of 3rd/6th

FINALS                      The highest remaining seed will host the final game.
