KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Marissa Gonzalez of Lubbock Christian (Texas) has been selected as the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week while Kara Renfro of Georgetown (Ky.) was awarded the NAIA Softball Player of the Week for March 17-23.

 

Gonzalez, a senior pitcher from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., notched four wins last week including a 5-3 victory over then-No. 1 California Baptist. She struck out 47 batters and allowed three earned runs in 22 innings.  Gonzalez also pitched a perfect-game and third no-hitter of the season in 10-0 win over Dordt (Iowa).

 

Renfro, a senior outfielder from Paint Lick, Ky., recorded 17 hits in 29 at bats and drove in 21 runs to help Georgetown to a 7-1 record during the week.  She hit three homeruns, five doubles and two triples.  Renfro also stole seven bases on seven attempts and scored 10 runs during the week.
