Dickerson Breaks RBI Record in Win Against SNU

OBU's Josh Collazo and Kaley Dickerson

OBU's Josh Collazo and Kaley Dickerson

April 21, 2008

Oklahoma Baptist University's single season RBI records for both baseball and softball fell by the wayside on the same day - Saturday.

Sophomore Kaley Dickerson broke the school softball single season RBI record with a two-run double in her last at bat of a 6-2 win over Southern Nazarene while Josh Collazo used an RBI double and a solo home run to break the baseball record in a loss to Oklahoma City Saturday.

Dickerson, an outfielder from Carrollton, Texas, eclipsed the record of Rori Logan, who drove in 47 in 1981. The 1981 mark was the oldest single season record on the books.

Collazo, a junior first baseman from Tampa, Fla., doubled home Kyle Cooper in the fifth to tie OBU assistant coach Kevin Paxson's 1997 RBI record of 79. Collazo then homered in the seventh for his school-record 80th RBI while tying Felix Peguero's 2005 home run record of 18 in a season.

Collazo began the day as the nation's leader in RBI per game.
