DECATUR, Ala. - Point Loma Nazarene (Tenn.) advanced in the loser's bracket with 1-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) at the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship double elimination bracket.

Jill Schaefer went 3-for-3 for Point Loma Nazarene while Melissa Gomez batted 1-for-3 and scored the only run of the game.  Gomez also pitched seven shutout innings for the win.

After six scoreless innings, Gomez led of the inning with double to deep left-center in the seventh and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt.  Donie Thomas drove in Gomez with a two-out single.

Trevecca Nazarene had a runner at second base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but PLNU's catcher Samantha Hall picked off the runner to end the game.

The Sea Lions will advance in the loser's bracket and will face the loser of St. Gregory's (Okla.) versus Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Tuesday, May 20 at 10 a.m.

Trevecca Nazarene will end its season with 53-9 overall record.
