DECATUR, Ala. - California Baptist advanced in the loser's bracket at the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship with 7-0 victory over Dickinson State (N.D.)

 

Amy Thomas pitched a complete game shutout for the Lancers while allowing just three hits and striking out seven.  Sara Goforth, Chantal Millard, Erin Moore, Allison Dennis and Sarah Hurlbut all had a RBI in the win.

 

CBU took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never look back as they added a run in second and four in the sixth.  The Lancers got three singles from Goforth, Nikki Lowe and Moore and a sacrifice fly from Dennis to score two runs in the first.  Hurlbut singled in the second and came around to score on Goforth's double to make it 3-0.  Courtney Weber, Ashli Klingaman, Nicole Shoemaker and Kelly Maconachy scored the four runs for Cal Baptist in the sixth on three hits and an error.

 

CBU will face GSAC rival Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) at 5:30 p.m. in the elimination game.

 

Dickinson State (N.D.) will end its season with 40-11 overall record.
