Lubbock Christian Forces If Necessary Game

DECATUR, Ala. - Lubbock Christian (Texas) defeated Mobile (Ala.), 4-3, to force if necessary game at the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship.

 

Ginalee Davis went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Kelly Griego came in relief to pitch 5.2 innings for the win.

 

Mobile's Anadys Suarez led off the second inning with single to left-center and moved to second on Jennifer Gomez's bunt single.  After a sacrifice bunt, Jineth Pimentel gave the Rams the lead with a three-run home run to center field.

 

The Lady Chaps answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Honda Rodriguez started things off with a lead off double and scored on Raquel Hawkins single.  Davis knotted the score at three with a two-run homerun to right field.  She homered again in the sixth to give LCU the lead.

 

The Rams loaded the bases with one out in the seventh but grounded into double play to end the game.

 

Both teams will face again at 4 p.m. to decide the national champion.
