STARKVILLE, Miss. - Presented annually by adidas, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Official Footwear, the Golden Shoe Award recognizes athletes from NFCA member schools in each of the following nine divisions: NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), NAIA, NJCAA (Divisions I, II and III), Cal JC and NWAACC.

Divisional committees comprised of NFCA member coaches determined the adidas Golden Shoe Award winners.

The NAIA national award goes to Chelsea Bailey of Trevecca Nazarene University. Bailey stole 50 bases in 68 games as she helped Trevecca Nazarene to NAIA's fifth-best stolen base per game average. The sophomore ranked second on the TNU squad at the plate, hitting .425 as the Trojans finished the year 59-11 and earned a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. She paced the squad in runs scored with 68, and she finished second in doubles (16) and triples (three).

The Mt. Juliet, Tenn. product was named to the NAIA Region XI first team as well as first team All-TranSouth. The 2006 TranSouth freshman of the year also made the NFCA East Region second team in 2007.

Bailey, who already owns the Trevecca career stolen base record, produced the fifth most hits and sixth most stolen bases last season in a season in NAIA history.  

The National Fast pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fast pitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play. Originally founded in 1983 as the National Softball Coaches Association (NSCA), the association became the NFCA in 1996 and now consists of nearly 4,500 members.
