KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In the final poll of the 2009 season, Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) reigns as the No. 1 program in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon (May 3). The Lady Senators earned 12 of the possible 13 first-place votes and 343 total points. AUM has now been the No. 1 team in all seven polls this year. AUM is gunning for its sixth straight national championship. Last week, AUM defeated No. 3 Berry (Ga.) in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship.
The official announcement of the Championship qualifiers will be released by 6 p.m. CST today (Sunday).
No. 2 Fresno Pacific (Calif.) tallied the remaining first-place vote and 332 total points. The Sunbirds stand 21-1 overall on the year. Berry checks in at No. 3 with 321 total points. Concordia (Calif.) slides up three spots to No. 4 while Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) holds at No. 5.
