KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After finishing second in the previous 13 NAIA volleyball ratings, the No. 1 ranking this week belongs to Fresno Pacific (Calif.). The Sunbirds received all 14 first place votes and 350 total points. The poll is the first of the 2007 regular season.
Fresno Pacific has won all seven matches this season including wins against pre-season No. 6 Albertson (Idaho), No. 10 Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) and No. 25 Westminster (Utah).
Concordia (Calif.) moved up three spots to No. 2 in the rating earning 336 points. California Baptist notched the third spot with 317 points while Dickinson State (N.D.) and Biola (Calif.) are at No. 4 and No. 5 with 306 and 293 points respectively.
Twelve top-25 teams go head-to-head this week. Vanguard at Biola (Sept. 6), Georgetown (Ky.) at Cedarville (Ohio) (Sept. 7), Fresno Pacific at California Baptist (Sept. 8), Concordia (Calif.) at Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) (Sept. 8), Lee (Tenn.) at Great Falls (Mont.) (Sept. 8) and Bellevue (Neb.) vs. Cedarville (Ohio) (Sept. 8) are all in action.
The second regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
