BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -  Union College (Ky.) senior setter Amanda Bowling continues to rewrite the school's record books each time she steps on the court as she surpassed the 4,500 career assist mark in a 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over visiting Montreat College (N.C.) on Saturday.

The Louisville, Ky. native posted 39 assists in the win to give her 4,503 for her career. No other Lady Bulldog in program history has at least 1,600. Angelica Varani is in second with 1,597 career assists.

The Lady Bulldogs had to fight to win the first game 33-31 but had an easier time in the second frame as they posted a 30-22 decision. Early in the third game, the play was tight with the score going back and forth. However, Union went on to post a 30-24 decision for the sweep.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs extended their winning streak to four, matching a season high. Also, the team is back at .500 with an 11-11 overall record. More importantly, the victory improved Union's league mark to 7-3.

In addition to the 39 assists, Bowling had 11 digs. Sophomore Marlee Cooper (Bloomington, Ill) had another solid game with 20 kills and 11 digs, while Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) helped out with 13 kills and three aces.

Union returns to action on Monday when it visits Mountain State University (W.Va.) at 7 p.m.
