Amy Eckenfels of Campbellsville University (Ky.), Megan Meyer of Northwestern (Iowa), and Natalie Rentz of Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) have been selected as the NAIA National Libero, Player and Setter of the Week for the week ending October 1st, 2006.
Eckenfels, a senior libero from Louisville, Ky., averaged 8.43 digs/match this past week in wins over Pikeville College (Ky.)and Georgetown College (Ky.). She also became only the second libero in NAIA history to surpass the 3,000 digs mark for her career and also recorded her 23rd match of 30+ digs and her 60th match of 20+ digs for her career.
Meyer, a junior outside hitter from Aplington, Iowa, led the Raiders with 48 kills and six service aces in three match wins last week. She averaged 4.8 kills/match and had an attack percentage of .383. She had a team-high 18 kills against #16 rated Doance College (Neb.) and also totaled 56 digs and 7 bloc
ks on the week.
Rentz, a senior setter from Napa, Calif., became PLNU's all-time dig leader against Vanguard University (Calif.) and now has 1,556 career digs. She also averaged 13 assists/match on the week.
