UNDEFEATED
Fresno Pacific stayed perfect on the season with two more wins last week to improve its record to 23-0.  The Sunbirds have won 11 consecutive matches with out losing a game and dropped just seven games in 23 matches this season.  Last time Fresno Pacific dropped a game was against Westmont (Calif.) on Sept. 15 when they lost game-three in a 3-1 victory.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK MATCHES
Six favorites lost their matches last week including No. 11 Westminster (Utah) falling to unranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), 3-1, at home.

No. 10 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) defeated No. 4 Biola, 3-2, while No. 20 Southern Oregon took down No. 8 The College of Idaho, 3-1.  No. 19 Northwestern (Iowa) knocked off No. 12 Morningside (Iowa), 3-1, on the road and No. 22 Georgetown (Ky.) and No. 24 SCAD (Ga.) both winners against No. 19 Campbellsville (Ky.) in three-games.

REGION II AND III DOMINATING THE POLL
Seven teams from Region II and six from Region III have been ranked in the top-25 this week.  Top four spots went to the teams in region two.  Fresno Pacific, California Baptist, Concordia (Calif.) and Biola and Azusa Pacific are ranked 1-4 respectively while Azusa Pacific occupied the sixth spot. No. 8 Point Loma Nazarene and No. 16 Vanguard are also from region two.  Teams from region three include, No. 5 National American, No. 7 Dickinson State, No. 13 Morningside, No. 11 Dordt, No. 17 Northwestern and No. 19 Hastings.

LINDSEY CAMPBELL HITS MILLENNIUM
Senior middle blocker Lindsey Campbell became just the third player in Concordia (Calif.) history to record 1,000 career kills, highlighting a 30-19, 28-30, 30-24, 30-26 win for the #3-ranked Eagles over 5th-ranked Azusa Pacific, Saturday, Oct. 20th in the CU Arena.

"I really wasn't thinking about it because I didn't want it to get in my mind," said Campbell, who entered the match with 995 kills and finished the match with 11 to go along with four blocks and four digs. "It was basically if it happens, it happens; if not, it doesn't. A bunch of people knew about it and were really rooting for me, but this was a total team effort tonight.

The milestone didn't come until game three for Campbell, but the kill clearly gave the Eagles an emotional boost as they were mired in a grind-it-out style match with the Cougars. Campbell added one more kill in the third frame, then converted 5-of-6 swings in the final stanza to help finish off the match.

MIKE GIBSON EARNS 600TH CAREER WIN

Tuesday night (Oct. 9) proved to be more than just another win for the University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball program and its coach, Mike Gibson.  Michigan-Dearborn defeated conference foe Davenport University 3-1 (30-13, 28-30, 30-23, 30-23) giving Head Coach Mike Gibson his 600th career win.     Tuesday proved to be the culmination of a great 6 days for the Wolves volleyball team.  On Thursday night, the Wolves traveled to Grand Rapids to take on 20th ranked Cornerstone University.  Michigan-Dearborn defeated Cornerstone 3-0 (33-31, 34-32, 30-28).  On the next night, Michigan-Dearborn went to Livonia to take on 17th ranked Madonna University.  For the first time in 10 years, Madonna lost a home match to a conference opponent as the Wolves won 3-1 (30-28, 30-21, 12-30, 30-28).  Coach Gibson called those two wins, the biggest wins in the program's history.

Gibson has been the head coach for 25 years and has been the only volleyball coach in the school's history.  His over 600 wins puts him sixth on the NAIA's All-Time Winningest Active Volleyball Coaches list.  During his tenure, his teams have qualified for post-season playoffs in 22 out of 24 years.  There have been three NAIA All-Americans and since 1994 ten NAIA Academic All-Americans.  Continuity has helped Gibson over the years.  Assistant head coaches Louis Mitchell and Al Edwards have been with Gibson for over 15 years each.

In the early 1990s, Gibson started the Victors Volleyball Club, a junior volleyball club that runs out of the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  The club has players ranging in ages from 10-18 years old and has produced many future collegiate players.  Gibson also serves on the Michigan High School Volleyball Board of Directors and is the current volleyball chair for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.  Gibson also is the past president National Association Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball Coaches Association and a Tournament Committee Member of the NAIA National Volleyball Championships.  He was recently honored by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association with a Special Service Award.

ALLISON KINCHELOE SETS COUGARS' CAREER ASSISTS RECORD

Allison Kincheloe doesn't care much for the spotlight. So on a night that Azusa Pacific moved its volleyball match out of prime time and out of the center court arena, Kincheloe opted to step front and center and lead the NAIA's No. 5-ranked Cougars to a 30-28, 30-20, 30-26 nonconference victory over Bryan College, Wednesday, Oct. 17th.

Kincheloe, a third-year starter out of Mater Dei High, tallied 43 assists in the 3-game sweep of the Lions and in the process broke the school career-record for assists. She now has 4,588 assists, besting Mahea Burgess' former standard of 4,569 set during her 4-year Cougar career from 1999 to 2002.

"I'm not too fazed by the record," said Kincheloe. "As a setter your mindset is to help the hitter, and they're the ones who deserve the recognition. I'm here to help, not be the central focus."

SOUTHERN OREGON ENDS LADY YOTES CCC STREAK AT 31

Jaclyn Hamilton-Smith paced a rugged Southern Oregon attack with 16 kills, as the No. 20 ranked Raiders ended The College of Idaho's 31-match Cascade Conference win streak with a 30-27, 13-30, 30-24, 30-20 victory over the Coyotes in McNeal Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 20th.

The win extended the Raiders (19-4, 12-1 CCC) win streak to 14 in a row and ended a six-game losing streak to The C of I - including two-straight in Ashland.

ANOTHER SWEEP FOR NO. 1 FRESNO PACIFIC

The Sunbirds used 15 kills from senior middle blocker Marin (Shilling) Canaday to lead the charge in a 30-22, 30-23 30-17 Golden State Athletic Conference sweep of the Westmont College in Santa Barbara on Saturday, Oct. 20th.  The Warriors became the 11th straight team to be swept in three-games by Fresno Pacific and 18th overall this season.

The Sunbirds have lost just seven games in 23 matches this season.
