NAIA GAME OF THE WEEK: No. 6 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) will travel to No. 14 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) on Saturday, Nov. 8 for the NAIA Game of the Week.  Azusa Pacific won the first meeting between the teams this season on Oct. 4th.  APU currently has a three-game win streak against Point Loma Nazarene.

 

In other top-25 match up this week: No. 16 Vanguard (Calif.) will host No. 1 Fresno Pacific (Calif.) on Saturday, Nov. 8.

 

VANDERHYDE AND DePRIEST BREAKS DAVENPORT KILLS AND DIGS RECORDS: The Panthers volleyball season is in just its third season and the records continue to fall.  On Saturday at the Georgetown University Invite, freshman Megan Vanderhyde broke the school record for kills in a season with 385.

 

Vanderhyde has accomplished this feat on only 1123 attempts which is also fewer than Stieg’s a year ago. Megan is hitting  at a .149 clip on the year and is averaging 2.92 kills per set.

 

In only her first season playing on the Davenport Volleyball team, freshman Courtney DePriest has made a major impact for the Panthers.  On Tuesday night, Courtney posted 22 digs in a 3-2 win over Concordia which puts her first on the season digs record for Davenport.

 

Courtney has 544 digs on the season and it breaks the old mark of 531 set in 2007 by Liz Holden.  She is averaging 3.91 digs per set this season.

 

NO. 3 BIOLA KNOCKS OFF NO. 2 CONCORDIA IN FIVE-SET THRILLER: No. 3 Biola came back from a five-point deficit late in the fifth set and pulled out an impressive victory over No. 2 Concordia University by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 26-28, 25-21, 15-13 in a battle of two of the top teams in the GSAC and the NAIA on Saturday night at Chase Gymnasium.

 

Biola moves to 24-2 overall and is now 12-2 in GSAC play thanks to its eighth-straight victory and first win over Concordia in three years. Concordia drops to 23-4 and 12-4 in conference play.

 

Senior Jessica Buffum led Biola with 15 kills while senior Kelsey Mitchell added 14.
