CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY: The Conference Championship Tournaments are in full swing this week.  Mid-South (Georgetown (Ky.)), Sunrise (Maine-Presque Isle) and TranSouth (Union (Tenn.)) already crowned their champions while other conferences will hand out the titles on Saturday, Nov. 15th.

SELECTION SUNDAY: The 29th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship qualifiers and pairings will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.  The championship tournament will feature 36 teams with 12 first round matches played at on-campus sites.  The top 12 teams will receive a bye in the opening round.

UVA-WISE’S LAWSON RECORDS 2,000 CAREER DIGS: Britney Lawson became the first Lady Cavs’ women’s volleyball player to record 2,000 career digs.

In her final game in Greer Gym, the Rye Cove, Va. product had her best game of the year with 52 digs in a 3-1 victory over Pikeville College last Thursday, Nov. 6th.

MITCHELL RECORDS 1,000TH KILL:  Senior Kelsey Mitchell recorded 10 kills to push her over the 1,000 kill plateau for her career at Biola, helping the Eagles to a 25-21, 25-13, 25-20 win over The Master’s College in a GSAC match on Saturday night.

SEA LIONS HOST BLOCK PARTY AGAINST AZUSA PACIFIC: Saturday’s GSAC tilt between No. 14-ranked Point Loma Nazarene and No. 6 Azusa Pacific was billed as the NAIA Match of the Week. The five-set thriller lived up to the hype as the Sea Lions downed the Cougars 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-9).

The Sea Lions tallied an incredible 23.5 blocks, second most by a Point Loma team. Senior Christy Dueck, a senior middle, was in on 16 blocks, breaking the previous PLNU match high of 13 that was achieved three other times.

The on-line store currently features opportunities to purchase Fall Championship items. All other Championship-event apparel will be available for purchase on the website in the near future.
