OLATHE, Kan. - No. 6-seeded Simon Fraser University (B.C.) opened and ended the first half with goals to post a 2-0 second round victory against William Jewell College (Mo.) at the 2005 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship. All games are being at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe, Kan.
Sarah Miles put a shot in from seven yards off a pass from Hailey Rawlings for the Clan's first score at the 9:05 mark. The goal was the first of the season for Miles. Danielle Sleiman chipped in the second goal in the 42nd minute for the 2-0 lead.
William Jewell (16-4-0) qualified for the tournament as an At-Large selection. The Cardinals had several chances to score with nine shots on goal, but SFU junior goalkeeper Michele Gademans had an outstanding day in the net to grab the shut out, her ninth of the year.
Simon Fraser (11-4-3) advances to face the #3 seed Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) (17-0-4). The quarterfinal game will be on Saturday, November 19 at 5 p.m. (CST).
