California Baptist Advances to Championship Match at 2007 NAIA Volleyball National Championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. - In the second semifinal match of the 2007 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Tournament, No. 2 California Baptist knocked off No. 3 Concordia (Calif.) in three games at the Southwell Complex in Columbia, Mo.  The Lancers advanced to the championship match for the third time in the last four years and will face the top-seed Fresno Pacific (Calif.) at 7:30 p.m.

In game one, both teams traded points until California Baptist scored the final six points for a 30-23 win.  The Lancers carried the momentum and took 2-0 lead in the match with a 30-21 game-two victory.  CBU came out on fire in game-three with five straight points and never looked back for a 30-18 win.

Vernaia Willis led the way for the Lancers with 22 kills.  She also added seven digs.  Fei Shi added 16 kills and seven digs.  Katrina Clark recorded a team-best 19 digs and Yudelka Bonilla had seven kills and 12 digs.  California Baptist improves its overall record to 32-4 on the season.

Concordia's Traci Weamer posted a team-best nine kills and 15 digs for the Eagles.  Jenna Friedrich had 12 assists and eight digs and Chelsea Scott recorded 10 digs.  Concordia will end its season with an overall record of 30-6.
