SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The top two teams in Pool E won their matches on the opening day at the 29th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship Pool Play. Georgetown dropped the first game before winning three straight against College of Idaho (16-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22) while California Baptist swept Indiana Tech (25-21, 32-30, 25-22).
Erica Janszen led Georgetown with 14 kills while Jessica Hoeh added 12 and Kristy Hock chipped in nine kills. Jenna Gronotte assisted on 32 kills and Amy Barmore was the leader on defense with 15 digs. Naomi Reimer led College of Idaho with 11 kills and 15 digs.
Fei Shi paced California Baptist with 14 kills and 16 digs. Krista Hasemeyer and Mical Bell added 22 and 16 assists respectively while Katrina Clark led the Lancers with 18 digs. Erika Stouder recorded 14 kills for Indiana Tech and Michelle Fitzpatrick led the match with 23 digs.
