SIOUX CITY, Iowa – No. 2 Biola (Calif.) and No. 11 Madonna (Mich.) both won their matches on the opening day at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Pool Play. After dropping the first game to Lubbock Christian (Texas) 20-25, Biola won the next three 25-22, 25-19, 25-22. Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) knocked off Madonna (Mich.), 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-13).
Jessica Buffum led Biola with 15 kills and Kelsey Mitchell added 10 kills. Christina Perkins and Abbie Wright assisted on 20 and 22 kills respectively. Elissa Loynes (14 kills) and Suzannne Childress (12 kills) reached double figures in kills of Lubbock Christian while Courtney Yonke led the match with 35 digs.
Julie Maciboba led Lewis-Clark State with 21 kills while Anile Clemente added 15 kills and 20 digs and Dana Christiansen chipped in 12 kills. Lubovj Tihomirova led Madonna with 23 kills and Mary McGinnis added 18 kills.
