SIOUX CITY, Iowa – On the second day of the 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Pool Play the top seeded Fresno Pacific (Calif.) defeated Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18 while Black Hills State (S.D.) upset No. 12 Morningside (Iowa) 25-22, 25-19, 25-21.

Brittany Pierce (19 kills and 15 digs) and Fabiana Leomil (18 kills and 11 digs) both recorded double-double for Fresno Pacific.  Tiffany Marinos led the match with 30 digs and Shu Liu recorded 48 assists.  Melissa Boer had a team-high 11 kills for Point Loma Nazarene and Sheriess Peters and Christy Dueck each had 10 kills.

Kristin Engle led the match with 18 kills for Black Hills State (S.D.) while Maggie O’Neill added 11 kills and 16 digs.  Annie Grim led the defense with 19 digs.  Jamie Vander Kooi had 10 kills and 10 digs for Morningside while Kali Angerman recorded 32 assists.
