SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The higher seeds in pool C play were tested but survived on the second day at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship. Third seeded Concordia (Calif.) defeated Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), 3-2 (24-26, 21-25, 25-21, 26-28, 15-10) and No. 10 Northwestern (Iowa) dropped first two games, 25-19, 25-19 but won the next three 25-12, 25-20, 15-11 against Walsh (Ohio).
Stephanie Scheele led the match with 21 kills for Concordia. Traci Weamer added 14 kills while Serrina Russo and Amber Ridens each recorded 10 kills. Russo also had 15 digs while Chelsea Scott led the team with 19 digs. Stephanie Smith led Olivet Nazarene with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Randa Hulstein led Northwestern with 21 kills while Hillary Hanno added 17 kills and Kate Buyert chipped in 11 kills. Kaitlin Beaver assisted on 52 kills and recorded 16 digs. Megan McDonald was the team leader for Walsh with 19 kills and 12 digs.
