Simon Fraser sits atop the polls

Sept. 19, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the second week in a row, the Simon Fraser (B.C.) women's cross country team is the top squad in the NAIA Women's Cross Country Top 25 Poll.  The Clan had a total of 208 points, including six of seven first-place votes to earn the No. 1 spot.

Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and Milligan (Tenn.) tied for the No. 2 ranking, as each team had a total of 195 points.  Malone (Ohio) comes in at fourth as the Pioneers had 193 points.  Black Hills State (S.D.) rounds out the top five, earning 180 points.

Three teams jumped into the Top 25 for the first time this season.  The biggest jump was Indiana Tech, who climbed all the way to No. 12 in the nation.  The Warriors had a great week, finishing third overall at the Intercollegiates at Purdue University and having the best time of any NAIA school at the meet.  Warriors runner Kara Van Horn finished third individually, finishing with a time of 18:36 and lowering her school record by 36 seconds.  The other two schools making their debut this week are MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) and Fresno Pacific (Cal.), who came in at No. 19 and No. 24 respectively.

The next Top 25 Poll will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
